Druid Moss

During the last year i had little time to work on my music projects Although i have been making some field recordings, had no time publish anything. A few days ago i finally finished building a website for my dark ambient project Druid Moss, which is meant to overtake the more abstract and atmospheric material, while Muhmood will concentrate mostly on the heavy, electric guitar based stuff. At some point later this year i hope to put together a couple of field recording compilations and may be if time permits the first official full length release by Druid Moss...

Meanwhile you are welcome to check out the website and three demos, that should give you an idea about Druid Moss concept.

how does it feel to live in siberia?

feels like you are in anexpensive cultural butthole stuck in your room with double insulated windows from november till end of april, the upside of this experience is you can appreciate the advantages of other places... cause you know the difference... seeing homeless people in New York wearing white socks and wearing 100 bucks boots makes you wonder why people can't appreciate all the opportunities laying right at their feet and just choose to be bums... Siberia is not a bad place to live after all, the worst thing i disliked there is that everything seems to be a copy, and immitation or stylization of what they see in hollywood movies ( which by itself is a total crap to me) but when it turns into a cheap chinese artificial crap - it is even worse... the good side of life there is that you still can get some good made of natural not so much processed products that - versus western "civilized" food that tastes like plastic. In Siberia you can go wherever you like put up a tent and make a camp fire without any permits or fear that you intruded someone's property... there is a lot of rugged freedom there that i really miss

Muhmood & Ego Ex Nihil - Fictive Planets

We finished this album in 2008 and finally it will be released on a very decent Russian label that deals purely with doom metal - Solitude Prductions

Collaboration of two experimental Russian projects based on mixture of post-metal doom riffs with dark ambient parts. A long deep space journey around invisible fictive planets is depicted by harsh guitar riffs while minutes of atmospheric soundscapes do not bring any relief just adding to the overall depressive picture of wandering and desperation.

DIY guitar effects

Here are some of my first builds
from left to right:
Meathead DLX > Fuzz Face GE > Meathead

FF is done in Mark Rothko style - he lived and worked the same time with Hendrix and Hendrix liked bright colors, so i thought it wold be right.

i am very happy with the sound of all three of them and ispired to build more, seems to turn from curiousity into passion now! 8)

just a couple of days ago finished Dallas Range Master - a clone of what Toni Iommy used on his first albums in Black Sabbath - it is a very simple treble booster but sounds so great!

will try to put up some samples later...

Talmenka

This is my first purely field recordings album released by the Portuguese netlabel Green Field Recordings. Talmenka is the name of the river in Altai Region and a village that stands on it. It's been a very inspiring place for me, surrounded by the woods, lakes and two rivers. So here is a bunch of tracks i recorded on my several trips there, i wanted to share a few local frequencies that are more like a sound diary of last summer.
The artwork that goes along with this release are photos of the places where the recordings were done.

....winter

...lots of snow, holidays, laziness, solitude. Another span of hybernating till about end of april... Fuck! but it's got a good side to it too! In fact i have been pretty busy playing with all the material i had recorded this year, so much to do and now i will have plenty of time on my hands. I like winters for this. Loaded my shelves with a bunch of inspirational books and films that will keep me busy for a while. My latest discovery - Takashi Miike's "MPD Psycho" mini TV series - i swallowed it in one day - wish i could understand Japanese to watch the original...

Lately have been listening to the bands like Sleep, Skepticism, Beehoover, Yob and Twin Eagle they inspire me a lot especially Eagle Twin! Another one that really moves me is Of the Wand and the Moon. My mind is wanderring around the idea of starting a new music project which i already have the gut feeling for but can't really put it into words or sounds yet but it will definitely include field recordings... The new year will show.
